Floating Concrete Breakwaters for Cowichan Bay, BC

Description: 3 sections of floating concrete 200’ long, 25’ wide, 10’ deep with crossribs through center and every 12.5’ lengthways. Forming was done on exterior with only bales of Styrofoam creating interior form work. They were formed on a barge in Delta, BC and poured monolithic. The units weighing close to 1 million lbs were off loaded from barge by sinking the barge. They were towed by tug to Cowichan Bay and anchored in the bay to protect the harbor from the ocean swells.
